Karl Fruchtmann. A Jewish Storyteller
Auteur filmmaker Karl Fruchtmann (1915–2003) is regarded as one of the most unconventional television directors. Kaddisch nach einem Lebenden (1969) and Zeugen – Aussagen zum Mord an einem Volk (1981) are important attempts to make audiences aware of the horrors of the Shoah. The Akademie der Künste and the Deutsche Kinemathek are dedicating the first publication to the filmmaker. His daughter Sara Fruchtmann, cinematographer Günther Wedekind and dramaturg Jürgen Breest pay tribute to Fruchtmann at the presentation.
