Poetics of the Centre?
Walter Kempowski in his Literary and Intellectual Context
In his monumental text collages, combining narrative tradition with the avant-garde, Walter Kempowski sought a political and aesthetic middle ground. When analysing historical failures of the bourgeoisie, he let those involved have their say. The conference examines the literary and intellectual constellations of a great prose writer, whose extensive archive is preserved at the Akademie der Künste. With Hanna Engelmeier, Daniel Fulda, Lutz Hagestedt, Ulrich Herbert, Kai Sina, Kerstin Stüssel, Tom Kindt, et al.
