Jules Bastin-Fontaine receives second prize in the Jeux de Temps / Time Play competition

As part of this year's cooperation between Studio and the Canadian Electroacoustic Community's JTTP (Jeux de Temps / Time Play) competition, Jules Bastin-Fontaine has been awarded second prize, which comes with a residency scholarship at the Academy of the Arts' Studio for Electroacoustic Music.

Jules Bastin-Fontaine is a Montréal-based composer and tuba player. During his university studies in tuba, he studied composition with Yannick Plamondon in Quebec City. In 2022, he completed undergraduate studies in both disciplines at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal in the classes of Jimmie LeBlanc (composition) and Pierre Beaudry (tuba). He is currently pursuing a master's degree in instrumental composition with Maxime McKinley and a bachelor's degree in electroacoustic composition with Louis Dufort. His music has won two prizes at the SOCAN Foundation Awards for Young Composers and has been performed by Ensemble contemporain de Montréal (ECM+) and Ensemble Paramirabo, among others.
