German Design Award 2019 for the publication Baukunst im Archiv
The book Baukunst im Archiv has been honoured with this year's German Design Award. The award ceremony will take place tomorrow, Friday, 8 February, in Frankfurt/Main. With this 2016 publication released by DOM publishers, the Akademie der Künste has provided the first-ever overview of the archives of architects, engineers, landscape architects, architectural photographers and critics passed down to the Akademie's Architecture Archive. Around 250 years of history come together in this volume, which presents all 71 archives and 80 collections in detail. The jury of the German Design Awards was impressed by the clear and simple design of the book and writes in its statement of reasons: "A publication that has been edited to be interesting both in form and content and wonderfully illustrated, which should be of interest to more than just professionals."
Baukunst im Archiv had already received the DAM Architectural Book Award in 2017.
