"Telling Art and Futures – Die Dialektik des Utopischen"

Concept artist Karin Sander places the utopian at the centre of the event and exhibition project “Telling Art and Futures – Die Dialektik des Utopischen”, which is taking place as part of the artistic research laboratory “Wo kommen wir hin”.
The programme will start on 28 April with the concert Music for Future Images compiled by Augustin Maurs. The evening will be arranged as a canon of aural visions based on Sun Ra's mantra It's After the End of the World, with Angela Bulloch and the Berlin Bass Ensemble, among others. In and in front of hall 3 of the Akademie building on Hanseatenweg, “Karin Sander: Telling Art & Futures – Die Dialektik des Utopischen” can be seen from 7 pm and an audio walk by Christoph Mayer CHM. with material from a project by FUTURZWEI ZWEI can be experienced. On 2 May, a performative reading with Frank Heibert and Hinrich Schmidt-Henkel titled “Zwei Mann, ein Hut, ein Knopf” will take place. In a conversation on 3 May, Magali Mohr and Gemina Picht will discuss the question: Positive Zukunftsbilder: Mission Impossible?
In “Telling Art and Futures”, scientific and artistic classifications intersect in new and unexpected roles. Within the scientific framework, these consist of face-to-face responses from young people who formulate their positive visions of the future. In the artistic context, members of all sections of the Akademie der Künste report on individual memories of their key experiences of art. The two approaches venture into both the future and the past.
Karin Sander is a member of Visual Arts Section of the Akademie der Künste. Together with Akademie members Kathrin Röggla and Manos Tsangaris, she initiated the artistic research laboratory “Wo kommen wir hin”.
Other contributors: members of all sections of the Akademie der Künste, Emma Drogunova, Felix Gebhard, Andreas Hagelüken, Satch Hoyt, Annika Larsson, Yutaka Makino, Ni Fam, Laurence Rupp and Sebastian Urzendowsky.
