How do we cope with the consequences of the progressive application of artificial intelligence (AI)? How does our concept of art change? AI is already transforming almost every area of life; will artistic creativity find a new attitude towards these new technologies?
From 6 pm and after the Academy Discussion a selection of video works by Jake Elwes CUSP (2019) and dada da ta (2016), among others, as well as the teaser for the audiovisual essay Moving Sand / Topos by Floros Floridis and Jeanine Meerapfel can be seen in the club room.

Jake Elwes' most recent work deals with artificial intelligence and investigates its backgrounds in technology, philosophy and ethics. He has exhibited internationally, including at ZKM | Karlsruhe, Germany; Today Art Museum, Beijing, China; CyFest, Venice, Italy; Edinburgh Futures Institute, UK; Zabludowicz Collection, London, UK; Ars Electronica 2017, Linz, Austria; Victoria and Albert Museum, London, UK and Nature Morte, Delhi, India.
Maya Indira Ganesh is a technology researcher, author and activist. She works at the interface of digital culture, new information and communication technologies, visual advocacy and human rights. At Leuphana University of Lüneburg she is currently researching the cultural narratives of the autonomy of artificial intelligences and the shaping of ethics.
Kristoffer Gansing has been artistic director of transmediale since 2012. As a curator and media researcher, he is interested in the interfaces between media, art and activism. Among other things, he is co-founder of the "Art of the Overhead Festival" (2005) and was a member of the editorial advisory board of tv-tv, the channel run by artists in Copenhagen, from 2007 to 2010. From 2001–2011 he taught theory and practice of new media at the University of Malmö.
Jeanine Meerapfel is a film director and president of the Academy of Arts since 2015. In 2019, in collaboration with Floros Floridis, she produced the audiovisual essay Moving Sand / Topos, a stage production that uses film, live improvised music and dance to trace the effects of Artificial Intelligence on human life (reenactment: November 9, 2019, Akademie der Künste, Hanseatenweg).
Thomas Wiegand has headed the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute (HHI) since 2014. In his research area, scientific work is carried out on video coding, wireless communication, machine learning, the human visual system and computer vision. In addition, he has held a professorship for image communication at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the Technical University of Berlin since 2008.
