Re-opening of the photography exhibition “CONTINENT – In search of Europe” on Friday, 19 March 2021, Pariser Platz

As of next Friday, 19 March, the exhibition “CONTINENT – In search of Europe” by OSTKREUZ – Agentur der Fotografen and the Akademie der Künste will be open again, showing at Pariser Platz until 18 April. Time slot tickets can be purchased from 17 March, at www.adk.de.

In 22 perspectives, the photographers of the OSTKREUZ agency explore aspects of coexistence in Europe on the basis not only of personal, social and political phenomena, but also of fundamental structures and historical developments. On such subjects as identity and security, the assertion of the nation state, migration and integration, democracy and freedom of expression, they make an artistic and political statement. Although the exhibition is a declaration of love, the artists also put their finger in the wound of this utopia of a cosmopolitan international community called Europe.

With works by Jörg Brüggemann, Espen Eichhöfer, Sibylle Fendt, Johanna-Maria Fritz, Annette Hauschild, Harald Hauswald, Heinrich Holtgreve, Tobias Kruse, Ute Mahler, Werner Mahler, Dawin Meckel, Thomas Meyer, Frank Schinski, Jordis Antonia Schlösser, Ina Schoenenburg, Anne Schönharting, Linn Schröder, Stephanie Steinkopf, Mila Teshaieva, Heinrich Voelkel, Maurice Weiss, Sebastian Wells and Sibylle Bergemann (1941–2010)

The exhibition is curated by Ingo Taubhorn and financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the Senate Department for Culture and Europe and the Gesellschaft der Freunde der Akademie der Künste.

OSTKREUZ – Agentur der Fotografen was founded by seven photographers in East Berlin in 1990, shortly after the fall of the Wall, in a Germany that had not yet been reunified. Today, 30 years on, OSTKREUZ ranks as Germany’s most prestigious association of photographers. Its 23 members are multiple-award-winning auteur photographers with their own approaches and signatures. Their pictures are featured in exhibitions, journals and magazines nationally and internationally.
