12th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art at the Akademie der Künste at Pariser Platz and Hanseatenweg
With its locations at Pariser Platz and Hanseatenweg, the Akademie der Künste is one of the five exhibition venues of the 12th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art. The 12th Berlin Biennale will be on show from 11 June to 18 September 2022.
With its selection of venues, the 12th Berlin Biennale maps historical ruptures and processes of political and social transformation that were initiated in Berlin but resonate far beyond the city. Against this backdrop, its participants seek to formulate decolonial strategies and practices for the present. The 12th Berlin Biennale is being curated by Kader Attia, in collaboration with the artistic team comprising Ana Teixeira Pinto, Đỗ Tường Linh, Marie Helene Pereira, Noam Segal and Rasha Salti. Other exhibition venues include the project space Dekoloniale – Memory Culture in the City, Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin, KW Institute for Contemporary Art and Stasi Headquarters. Campus for Democracy.
The Berlin Biennale has been taking place since 1998 and is organised by KUNST-WERKE BERLIN e. V. The Berlin Biennale is funded by the German Federal Cultural Foundation. The German Federal Cultural Foundation is funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
