Leningrad 1941–1944. Daniil Granin and his "Blockadebuch"

Reading

Seventy-five years ago, on 27 January 1944, the Siege of Leningrad by the German Wehrmacht ended. Together with Ales Adamovich, Daniil Granin began interviewing survivors of the blockade in 1974. The first uncensored edition was recently published by Aufbau Verlag with a foreword by Ingo Schulze. On the anniversary of the end of the Siege and in memory of Daniil Granin, who passed away in 2017 and would have been 100 this January, Akademie members read about the life and sufferings of the inhabitants of Leningrad from this moving documentation.
