Repositories of listening: archives and everyday life
Listening and talking about listening are artistic strategies used by international sound artists to explore the auditory reality of cultures and nature, establish an intercultural dialogue or re-evaluate colonial recordings, investigating these in terms of their provenance. With reference to their work on African music archives in Namibia and Bayreuth and listening as an everyday practice in Cameroon, Robert Machiri and Christina Kubisch will speak about these strategies. The musical results of their research can also be heard on the evening.
