Herman Hertzberger and Wilfried Wang
The Dutchman and Akademie member Herman Hertzberger (b. 1932) is one of the most influential architects and theoreticians of structuralism. He has built residential and administrative buildings, schools and cultural buildings, especially in the Netherlands. As part of the 1987 International Building Exhibition, a residential courtyard with 48 apartments was built in Berlin-Kreuzberg a year earlier. The functionality was to be adapted to the needs of the residents and flexible in terms of sustainable use. Followed by conversation with Akademie member Wilfried Wang.
