Lutz Seiler: Stern 111
Two days after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Inge and Walter Bischoff leave their old lives behind and follow a long-cherished dream, a “life secret” of which even their son Carl knows nothing, via emergency camps and transit dormitories. Carl, in turn, flees to Berlin, joins a group of young people who are fighting a guerrilla war for empty houses and runs the cellar bar Assel. In March, Lutz Seiler was awarded the Leipzig Book Fair Prize for his eloquent panorama of the post-reunification period.
