JUNGE AKADEMIE – Open Studios Sasha Kurmaz, Sahej Rahal, Lucie Sahner, Fabià Santcovsky
The JUNGE AKADEMIE of the Akademie der Künste opens its artist studios for day-long Open Studios in the Hansaviertel with presentations by four artists from the visual arts and music. The spacious two-story studios with a view in the Tiergarten designed by Werner Düttmann are used as exhibition spaces by the artists to show existing works as well as works-in-progress and to give insight into the panorama of their ideas and projects.
The artist Sasha Kurmaz developed a new video as well as a sound installation that reflect the state of anxiety, tension, and turbulence of recent times. Artist Sahej Rahal invites viewers to enter his virtual worlds and interact with the strange AI creatures that inhabit them. He will also present drawings and texts to give insight into the storytelling universe as well as the social and political realities behind his works. Visual artist and sculpturer Lucie Sahner uses the Open Studios to present one of her latex objects worn by performers as well as wax sculptures made of leftovers from Waxing Studios in an intimate and performative setting. Composer Fabià Santcovsky shares scores, texts, and fragments of his opera and sound pieces to enable a deeper understanding of his creative processes and tools, including machine learning technologies.
The studios are open for visitors any time between 12 and 10 pm, no registration is needed. From 6 to 10 pm the bar in the studio foyer is open for drinks and talks.
