Grand Opening

The celebratory opening of the new Collaborative Research Centre “Intervening Arts” takes place in cooperation with the Akademie der Künste, Berlin.

Academic perspectives and artistic positions complement and comment each other to explore the relationship between art, society and politics. Together, we explore the generative potential of the arts: Which role do artistic interventions play in social processes? Is the ambivalent term “intervention” suitable at all for capturing these dynamics? Among others, spokesperson Jürgen Brokoff will deliver a festive opening speech before the artists James Bridle and Emeka Ogboh will talk about their work.

Annual Conference

The first annual conference of the CRC “Intervening Arts” will focus on different strategies for the interference of arts in social relations. Fellows and guests scrutinize artistic models of the political. Speakers include Robin Celikates, Ines Geipel, Isabelle Graw, James Harding, Yuko Kaseki and others.
