Documentary filmmaker Claudia Richarz has drawn a sensitive portrait of the director based on Helke Sander’s film works. She gives her the space to reflect on ideologies and contradictions as a precise and often ironic observer. After her first experiences of theatre in Finland, Helke Sander has made around 20 films since 1966, which are characterised above all by the interweaving of actual events and fiction.
