Excluded in 1934: Bruno Taut and his long way back to Berlin

Symposium

In 1934, architect and urban planner Bruno Taut (1880–1938) was expelled from the Akademie and his professorship at the Technical University was revoked. This symposium is a reminder of the loss of expertise Berlin suffered, for example in housing construction, as a result of Nazi policies. The reception of Taut’s work was blocked by the division of Germany and passed incongruently. Today, his work can be researched in the Academy’s Architectural Archives, which preserves his estate and the Bruno Taut collection.
