In the Amber – On the estate library of Christoph Meckel
In the book cosmos of Christoph Meckel (1935–2020), dedications and annotations are signs of an artistic substance between image and word. The fascinating nature of Meckel's estate library is explored in three contributions: Gila Funke-Meckel talks about “Biographical notes in the weathered inventory”, Adela Sophia Sabban reconstructs “Christoph Meckel's network of living and dead poets” and Marit Heuß presents and discusses the “Dedications Sarah Kirsch – Christoph Meckel”.
(WHAT IS AMBER
the answer has never begun and is ongoing, it lasts a light year or a second, a butterfly's death, an eternal night; it can drag on through hundreds of seasons, through nine times nine human memories, reports, legends –)
(Gesang im Bernstein, third poem, in: Christoph Meckel: Gesang vom unterbrochenen Satz, 1995, Hanser Verlag)
