Rirhandu Mageza-Barthel

Rirhandu Mageza-Barthel lectures in the Institute of Political Science and is a Research Fellow at Africa's Asian Options, Goethe University Frankfurt. Her research centres on the international relations of gender politics in the global South, focusing on post-conflict transformation and transregional relations. Rirhandu studied in South Africa, Germany and the Netherlands; she has undertaken extended research visits in numerous African countries and was a Visiting Professor in Development Studies at the University of Vienna, Austria. She is the author of the monograph Mobilizing Transnational Gender Politics in Post-Genocide Rwanda (2015) and also co-editor of the volumes Negotiating Normativity: Postcolonial Appropriations, Contestations and Transformations (2016) and Afrasian Transformations. Transregional Perspectives on Development Cooperation, Social Mobility and Cultural Change (forthcoming).
